Delicious seasonal recipe to try this holiday!
Dec 05, 2024Hello lovelies:
If you're from the South... Have you ever wondered why in the world you would eat a scone if you can have a biscuit?
I have.
I always think that I want a beautiful scone but I take one bite and wish it were a biscuit- I want it a smidge sweeter and a smidge softer. In case you are wondering... smidge is a highly technical term. It means not too much and not too little. Just right...as Goldilocks would have it in her world.
So to that end,
I have made a recipe that looks and tastes like a biscuit, but comes together easier like a scone and it tastes like a scone and a biscuit had a passionate love affair and produced a beautiful baby with the best of both parents.
I think you will love them- My family did.
Ingredients:
3 cups all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup margarine
1 c. buttermilk
2 cups fresh cranberries
1 tsp grated orange peel
1 cup cranberry juice cocktail
4 Tbs dry buttermilk
cinnamon
sugar for dusting
1/4 c. heavy cream
Directions:
1. in a bowl combine dry ingredients- flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, buttermilk
2. cut in butter
3. add liquid
4. fold in cranberries and orange
5. put in a cast iron skillet
6. dust with more sugar and cinnamon and drizzle with heavy cream
